A Note from Fr. Jim regarding the election for Bishop of Northern California

May 6, 2006
Dear Friends in Christ,

The Diocese of Northern California elected their Canon to the Ordinary, The
Rev. Canon Barry Beisner, as Bishop Co-adjutor this afternoon on the fourth
ballot. I offer him and his wife, Ann, my blessings and prayers as they
begin this time of transition.

Joan and I have found this process to be a time of joy and profound
discernment. The people of Northern California welcomed us with open arms
and have afforded us the opportunity to continue to grow in our ministry to
the church. This process has clearly identified to me a call that I am
willing to pursue in obedience to God. We'll see where this willingness
leads us over the coming years.

As I said this morning at worship, this has been a time when we have been
reminded of the deep love we have for so many in the church and the love
that so many have for us. We rejoice together in this love and look forward
to our continued ministry at St. Catherine's. We are deeply grateful for
your continued affection and prayers.
