Acolytes Barbara
Barrington, 770.516.9224
Bob Olliffe, 770.645.8164
Acolytes are youth, male and female, who assist the clergy during worship services. Acolytes are scheduled to serve on teams of four, for the 8:45 am and the 11:15 am(10:30 am in the summer) services. Monthly schedules are distributed, with the addition of special services as occurring throughout the church year. Training is provided, usually once or twice per year. Vestments are also provided, as well as a handmade personal cross for each acolyte. All acolytes, middle school and older, are invited to attend our October 2007 trip to the National Acolyte Festival in Washington, D.C. While we have no specifics in ages or grade levels, we have determined three necessary requirements for an acolyte to serve at St. Catherine’s. These perhaps best demonstrate the level of maturity needed:
1. Sitting
quietly and attentively during the service
2. Following the
bulletin and fully participating in the worship
service
3. A
personal desire on the part of the young person choosing to
serve
in this position.
