Fellowship Committee is the leadership of planning a variety of fellowship offerings to build community and provide opportunities for fun and fellowship for adults, youth and children. This committee also oversees the kitchen and Parish Hall activities and supplies.

The Fellowship Committee sponsors festivities throughout the year including Christmas and Easter Receptions, Hanging of the Greens meal, Hors d’oeuvre/Dessert Competition, Low Country Boil, etc.

Breakfast Angels Margaret Shaw, 770.641.7022

Breakfast Angels serve a hot breakfast on Sunday mornings year round. Breakfast is available between 8:15 and 8:45 am each Sunday. This draws a mix of parishioners leaving the 7:30 service and arriving early for the 8:45 service. The Breakfast Angels joyfully prepare, cook, serve and clean up following breakfast. Teams of Breakfast Angels are scheduled on a rotating basis.

If you are eligible for an AARP card and have an adventurous spirit, you are welcome to join this lively group of folks with life experiences for periodic outings to various places of interest throughout the year.

Coffee Hour/Lemonade Brigade Susanne Muckerman, 770.690.8735

Coffee Hour/Lemonade Brigade provides for fellowship after our principal worship services. We set up in the foyer or under the oak tree where beverages, cookies, and sometimes cake are served. The supplies are provided by the church. Volunteers are scheduled periodically to share making, serving and cleaning up after the services. This is a great opportunity for folks to get to meet, greet and get to know other members of the congregation.

Foyers Groups are adult dinner groups which meet monthly in the home of a group member or in a restaurant or venue of the group’s choosing. The main dish is provided by the host with the rest of the group bringing dishes to complete the meal. Foyers groups are formed in September and meet together until June when a celebration gathering of all the groups takes place.

The Marriage Journey group is made up of married and soon to be married couples who meet for dinner to discuss the meaningful search for relationship joy. New members are always welcome.

Our Men’s Group meets for fellowship and outreach. The group invites all men of St. Catherine’s to participate. We help our senior citizens, supporting their needs for home repairs and lawn upkeep. We support and raise funds for a book scholarship program given to our graduating high school seniors who are continuing their educations. The Men’s Retreat is held at a different location each year and is a time of fellowship and renewal.

Newcomers Ministry

The Newcomers Ministry team’s purpose is to expand the mission of welcoming, informing, inviting and engaging visitors and to help them become members of our congregation. Several groups make up this ministry, including:

They greet and welcome visitors, both before and after our Sunday services and during other special services. Greeters call visitors within 24 hours to thank them for visiting and to offer assistance and information. Greeters are scheduled on a rotating basis.

Newcomer Parties/Coffees John Rea, 770.971.0883

These are informal opportunities for fellowship and community building for newcomers and new members of St. Catherine’s. Attendees are able to meet our clergy, staff, Vestry members and other parishioners and to learn more about our programs. Volunteers are needed to plan, host and provide refreshments for these gatherings.

Assimilation Callers visit new members in order to welcome them to St. Catherine’s and to discuss their interests and answer questions. We are looking for volunteers who like to meet people and want to share their love of St. Catherine’s with others. Training is provided.

Parish Family Day at the Lake Nancy Denton 770.428.6058

A day at one of our area lakes in August or September to have a relaxing, fellowship day with our St. Cat’s family. Boating, skiing, swimming and picnicking— fun for all!

Reception following our semi-annual Memorial Services when we can share hors d’oeuvres and conversation with fellow parishioners and guests who have come to remember and celebrate loved ones. Volunteers are needed to provide finger foods and help with preparations for both events.

The women of St. Catherine’s have come to value our time together as friends and sojourners in faith. Our retreats are one of the many ways in which we celebrate our lives together. They are a time of prayer, study, laughter and connection.

Young Families is designed for folks with children ages 12 and younger. The group meets as families, which provides a great opportunity for children to play together outside of church, as well as adult-only events for their parents to have grown-up fellowship.
