Congregational Nursing Dani Dickson, 770.971.1141

The Congregational Nurse Ministry is a ministry for Registered Nurses interested in the healing ministry of the church. This happens through education and awareness of a variety of health issues; through screenings of blood pressures, blood sugars and cholesterol levels; and with being there when you are needed. Being involved in a nurse to congregation relationship or in a one to one relationship is a very rewarding and beneficial ministry not only to the congregation but also the nurse.

Daughters of the King  Michael Paris, 770.509.0161
Barb Selby, 770.952.3857

The Daughters of the King is a religious order for women in the Episcopal church. Members take a public vow of prayer and service to support the church and clergy in many different ways. Preparation to become a member involves a 12-lesson study designed to familiarize the interested person with the rules of prayer and service as well as a background and history of the Order. Our chapter, installed at St. Catherine’s in 1999, meets on the fourth Thursday evening each month, with social events in December and May usually on Saturday mornings. Our meetings are open to all women of the church, and we welcome anyone who is interested to join us. Contact Michael Paris or Barb Selby if interested. There is consideration of starting a Junior Daughters chapter, contact Ellen Adams, 770.977.8924, if interested.

Earth Angels Nadine Pope, 770.973.9057

Earth Angels is a new group at St. Catherine’s that has formed in response to the call to be good stewards and take care of the earth’s natural resources. It is our hope that together we will learn, inspire, support, and mobilize each other to work faithfully toward an environmentally sustainable future. Earth Angels welcome anyone who is curious or interested in the environment. For more information please phone Nadine Pope or email her at ronaza@mindspring.com.

Deliver altar flowers after the last service on Sundays to parishioners who are ill at home or in the hospital, parish shut-ins, and others to whom we would like to show special remembrance.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers Jim Nixon, 770.971.2839 x202

Specifically trained lay persons who take the Holy Eucharist from Sunday services to members of the parish who are not physically able to attend church. This special ministry extends the Eucharist table to those who are shut-in or infirm. Each Lay Eucharistic Minister agrees to be trained and be scheduled on a regular basis.

Mentoring Youth Hale Sanders, 770.565.2719

Young people need connections with many adults, not just their parents, in order to grow emotionally and spiritually and to make better choices in their lives. Adult members of St. Catherine's are trained to be mentors and friends to teens. Adults and youth meet once every two weeks for an hour to talk about the young person’s experiences at school, home, and anywhere else. All that’s shared is held in strictest confidence. Having a relationship with a role model adult is a positive process in the growth of a young person into an adult. As the relationship progresses, the young person will find themselves growing in stature and self-esteem. Adults benefit by knowing they are having a positive influence on a young person.

Pastoral Counseling The Rev. Jim Nixon, 770.971.2839 x202

Pastoral Counseling is provided through an arrangement with trained and certified Pastoral Counselors. St. Catherine’s supplements the fee structure to make the service affordable for everyone in the parish. We do ask, however, that the client contribute what they can afford towards the cost. Referrals are made through the clergy.

Prayer Chain Marion Cook, 770.971.9716

This is a dedicated group who pray regularly for those in need. They receive a list from the parish office each week and, when required, phone calls to pray for those who form our concerns throughout the congregation.

Prayer Partnering with Youth Hale Sanders, 770.565.271

Prayer Partnering with youth is a program in which adults are assigned a young person whom they are asked to pray for daily. This is a supplement to the Mentoring program for those youth who currently do not have mentors. Our goal is for each young person in the church to be prayed for daily either by their Mentor or their Prayer Partner. Prayer Partners can remain anonymous but are encouraged to eventually identify themselves to the young person, since it is always a good feeling to know that someone is praying for and having positive thoughts for you. It only takes one minute of your time each day and is a great way for you to connect with a young person.

Sonshine Ministry Amy Morris

In times of special need, our Sonshine Ministry teams deliver food to our parishioners who arrive home from the hospital or face other emergencies such as death in the family or the loss of a job. Our parishioners help us by informing the parish office when they have particular needs. Volunteers are needed to serve on teams to prepare and deliver these meals. There is a freezer in the kitchen to store cooked entrees to be used by this group.
