During the May 2001 medical mission trip, the clinic was dedicated and our team worked with the Ecuadorian doctor and nurse to serve children and adults from the San Alfonso Episcopal Mission Church and the surrounding communities.
Outreach Pledge-Plus support in 2002 will help to expand the clinic by purchasing new equipment for a second exam room, buying furniture for a pharmacy/laboratory and the patient education/waiting room. Funds from the sale of Ecuadorian artisan items at the September 2001 Rally Day supported the construction of a bell tower for the church and medicine for the children.
Another medical mission trip is scheduled for August 2002. The team will focus on meeting again with the Tungurahua Provincial Minster of Public Health, working with the Ecuadorian doctor and nurse at the 'Sub-Centro de Salud – St. Catherine to serve children and adults from the San Alfonso Episcopal Mission Church and the surrounding communities, and conduct wellness physical exams for the students and staff at the El Salvador Episcopal School in Ambato. We will also visit all of the parishes in the Ambato area.
