Arroyo Seco
Monday started up several times
with the 'gentle crooning' of the 10+
peacocks around the conference
center. After packing up, we journeyed into
Taos for an excellent breakfast
(including HUGE cinnamon rolls) and our
morning meditation (we are living
in the present!!!). We also enjoyed
perusing the Taos SW shops including
native handmade silver, books /
literature, and art.
For lunch, we traveled seven miles
to the Rio Grande river gorge and had an
awesome picnic, complete with
a view of God's awesome creation. We do not
know how high it was, but it
did take 10 seconds for a large rock to travel
from the top to of the span across
the gorge to the bottom (enjoy you
physics experts). Fortunately,
none of our group attempted to repeat this
experiment with an actual body!!
After lunch, we traveled back
to the Taos Peblo, an active Indian community
including marketplaces, homes,
and a colonial era chapel. The Peblo
community welcomed us by not
charging us admission, in exchange for
community service rendered (in
the form of helping to pick up roadside
litter). The tour was led
by Cheryl, aka 'Picking Choke Cherries After
Midnight' (her Indian name).
We then traveled through the desert
and across the mesa to Ojo Caliente, in
the process going through a major
sandstorm and getting up close exposure to
desert lightning. We are all
getting used to be with each other with all
this traveling!!!
We ended the evening with a great
group meal at the Lomita Motel, where we
closed the evening in prayer
and song in an authentic teepee.
We miss you all and are praying
for you daily. Please keep sending those
supportive emails and prayer.
In Love,
The Team
P.S. Please feel free to send
any spare money possible and laundry supplies,
including towels. Thanks.
