VBS 2019
Peace of the Lord, July 15-19

Who had more fun at VBS this year, the kids or the adults?

Judging by the videos, it looks like it was a tie!  The enthusiastic songs, complete with super fun gestures, the rambunctious church clap dance and four Bible stories coming to life – what could be better!?

Becky Beal, Director of Children and Family Ministries, said her goal was to empower the teachers to help the students internalize God’s peace.  She sent them home singing, dancing and reliving stories they heard every day.  About half of the attendees came from the community.  What a great way to share our welcoming and nurturing parish!

The teachers and assistants really put their hearts into their work.  For 2½ hours a day for four days, they harnessed the energy and curiosity about God of their charges.  They illustrated four key Bible stories in memorable ways.  The students learned about Creation (God’s love created everything), the Prodigal Son (peace in families), the Samaritan Woman at the Well (peace in the world) and Jesus Calming the Storms (peace during scary times).

We all need to find “Peace like a river.”  Hopefully, all of the participants will be able to conjure up the songs and stories from this week to remind them about how to find that peace when they need it.
