Young Families Ministry

The purpose of the Young Families ministry is to provide opportunities to foster and strengthen friendships and personal relationships between the parents of children under the age of ten years old.  With the support system and valuable resources available through St. Catherine’s, we strive to help provide a nurturing environment for families to grow together in their faith.

Operation Christmas Child     Jennifer Gale

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. This program of Samaritan’s Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on mission project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language. Look for details November 2006.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd      Ana Martin

Catechesis is our Christian Formation program for two-year-olds through sixth grade. The emphasis is on presenting God’s Word and liturgy to our children in a way that taps into their needs and capacities at a given stage in development. Great consideration is given to the relationship God has with children from a very young age. The program is presented by our trained catechists and assistants. This fall St. Catherine’s will have four levels of the program during the Church School time: Young Lambs for two to three and a half year olds; Level I atrium for children three and a half through kindergarten; Level II atrium for first through third graders and Level III atrium for fourth, fifth & sixth graders. Catechesis also has an ecumenical (multi-denominational) program on Monday afternoons, and its own Wednesday evening portion of our Wild Wacky Wednesday family events. Training of catechists is provided on an on-going basis to those who wish to help children discover their own special relationship to God.
