Thursday morning, the group woke up early to go to Pisa for the day.
For over three hours, we rode a bus, talked and laughed, and listened to the numerous facts, stories, and myths about the city and its people, taught to us by our extremely informative tour guide, Alan. Once we got to Pisa, we held our bags and purses tightly in fear of pickpocketers. Fortunately, nobody had anything taken. The group also became extremely annoyed while waiting for the shuttle bus with the street vendors who were consistently trying to sell us their items and products. We soon got on the shuttle bus, which took us near the little shops right outside the city gates. We then went to lunch and then inside the city gate. The boys, however, didn't listen and went straight to the Leaning Tower while we were supposed to be eating lunch. Anyways, after we went inside the city gates, we were awed in amazement by the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Field of Miracles. We walked over near the Leaning Tower and it looked less tilted than the pictures make it out to be. Then, we went to the Cathedral and it was indescribable. We especially enjoyed the ceiling and the beautifully decorated altar. Then, we walked across to the Baptistry. It was very enjoyable and we were allowed to go to the top of the Baptistry to see the whole view at once. Right before we left, there was a lady singing echoes. It was a "God Moment" for everyone, Then, we walked around the shops and soon walked back to the bus. On the way, Julian bought a beaded hat from one of the street vendors for two euros. Julian got chased back to the bus by the street vendor. As Julio, our driver, drove us to Florence, everyone tried on Julian's new "hat". All and all, it was an amazing day.
